May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

Recommended Posts

I'm 5'8 and I wear a ladies 10 and juniors 13 bottom. Tops S/M.

Thanks. I'm 5'7" and 173. Still wearing a 16 on bottom but I've lost my boobs. Guess I just have a big ole butt :). I haven't been in a junior size since college.

Don't think I have been in juniors since the early 80s. Sadly my boobs and butt have gone south. But I will take it.

hi Tigerbelle! Glad to hear you are well. On hair loss: yes, I began losing drastically last month. While being thinner is a boost, my scalp showing is a bummer and makes me look and feel older. Certainly worth it, but still disheartening. My friend recommended "Toppik Hair Fibers" available at Sally Beauty online and in store. I haven't yet tried it but am def going to. It is pricey but really works according to my friend and her hair stylist. If you try it, please let me know your thoughts.

Wanted to let all my May sleevers who are losing hair know that 'Toppik' hair fibers really do make a difference in the appearance of thin hair. Also using Follicure Shampoo and conditioner. All available at Sally Beauty and Amazon. So glad to have a product that masks the thinning of my hair. Had to share!

I just realized that today is my 6-month surgiversary...I am sort of neutral right now--not displeased but not truly pleased either...my surgery weight was 268....this morning the scale read 212, so that means a 56 pound weight loss...I have been a slow loser and don't exercise the way I had planned (very low energy), so I am not displeased with the weight loss so far in total--as some other May sleevers recently posted, though, most of my weight loss was in the first 3 months...these last two months have been extremely slow in weight loss, making me fear that this is just about it for me...I still have a lot of weight to lose to reach my goal or close to it (I set one year out as my time frame)...if I thought I would lose another 56 pounds over the next 6 months, I would be hopeful...I would be at about 155 lbs at May 9, 2014--perhaps I can do it if I an gather the energy to begin a consistent work-out routine, which is definitely my goal between now and the beginning of 2014...wish me well, fellow May sleever friends :)

Hello May Sleevers... ;) I was sleeved on May 13, 2013. I have lost 60 lbs. I have been reading posts on here for months but this is my first post. About 3 weeks ago I hit my first stall. I was steadily losing every week - even a little bit until 3 weeks ago. Now I go back and forth within 2 lbs. I have read that several people experience stalls and I was wondering if any of my fellow May sleevers have any suggestions on how to beat the stall. I have not changed my eating...I do not track my Protein but try to eat all Protein first before I eat anything else. I just kicked up my exercise and try to exercise at least 30 minutes 4 times a week. Any other suggestions? :)

I've lost 69 lbs so far and just came off a 2 month stall. What helped was exercise and making sure I don't graze. It's too easy to snack and take in too many calories. I went on vacation and spent about 8 hours walking one day and 3 hours the next. The next week I dropped 5 lbs. So now I try to get in at least an hour a day of walking or biking as well as doing strength exercises 3 days a week. I hope not to stall like that again.

My surgery was 5/28. As of today, I am down 89lbs from SW of 293 to CW of 204 and am off all my meds.

Had a very slow progression for exercise as have had a lot of dizziness from low blood pressure but have steadily lost weight by pretty much sticking to the diet. Know that need to get the strength training going over the winter.

Doc has never given me a goal weight but would love to get to a BMI of 25 which would be 175lbs for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
