May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on may 23rd and I have lost 24 lbs in one week after surgery. Lost 17 in my 2 week preop for a total of 41 lbs.

I was sleeved on the 23rd as well and lost 20 lbs in one week. I'm only weighing weekly so I'm not sure about my next weigh in until Thursday. ..I didn't have a pre op though. I know I wont lose anywhere close to 20 lbs every week.

Me too! Though I'm not sure that mirroring what other are doing will necessarily work for me. I'm hoping to make it to 16 lbs loss by Tues which will be 4 weeks post-op (three lbs to go!).

Starting Weight: 270
Surgery Weight: 251
Two-Week Post-op Weight: 241

I guess the comparisons would happen either way, but it seems like it would be a "more level" comparison if we shared the % lost instead of the #...sometimes I think those with "lower" numbers get frustrated when it is likely due to a lower starting weight. So, I'll start, I am almost 4 weeks out (May 8) and I've lost 27 pounds or 9.3%...I'm hopeful that a few more pounds will drop by Wed so I can be closer to 10% down (which would be 20% of my overall goal)...wow, with all these numbers you'd never guess I was a communications major in college :-)

For percentage do you take the percentage of total or excess? I have a low bmi

You can do it either way, but "Biggest Loser" style would be to take your current weight divided by your starting weight.

The biggest loser one doesn't make sense to me that would be 92%..

Very true! I guess that means that I am down 12% overall and a little over 5% since surgery on May 7. I was a communications major too :) .

I only weigh once per week but on Thursday which was one week post op I weighed 247...I started at 268 on May 23rd ( this was my highest weight since I had no pre op diet)

My goal is 165, so I had 103lbs to lose...I lost 21lbs so I lost 20% of excess weight.

Went from a bmi of 40 to 37!

It really varies person to person and there's not much people can do the first couple of weeks besides follow your doctors orders.

Sorry Janice...the way I shared does mean that you end up and subtract your result from 100...so, in your case you've lost 8%

The formula to calculate percent changes is current weight - previous weight / previous weight :-). Ok, sorry for the multiple posts

Yeah but why would I wanna find out the percentage based on my total weight? Wouldn't it make more sense to put it in a percentage of excess weight. ..I don't want to weigh 0lbs I wanna weigh 165

Or better yet calculate fat lost.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
