My name is Michael, and I am 6 weeks post surgery. I had my vertical sleeve done on April 15th. I weighed in, the morning of surgery at 364 pounds. Today is May 25th and I now weigh in at 307 pounds. The first week after surgery was the hardest. I did not get sick, but I did realize how much visual stimulants I used to see that would trigger my eating. I was on a clear liquid diet, but every food commercial I saw, made me want to eat. Before surgery, I never noticed how tv effected me.

After the first week I started with soft foods based on my doctor. I can tell you the cream of chicken Soup never tasted so good. Cream of mushroom was awesome, and I do not like mushrooms. Anyway, I happened to find this app as I had my first run in with acid reflux. Was not sure what to take for it since I had not had the issue since surgery. Thought I might share any info or answer any questions for people thinking about getting it done. So far, very few complications, and lots of downsizing cloths. Any questions, feel free to ask.

If you are 6 days out, chances are, you have already lost. I lost my first 31 pounds in the first week. Then, once I started reintroducing food, the weight loss slowed. It averages now from 5 to 10 pounds a week. You might not see the changes yourself, but they are happening. I did not notice until I put my work uniform back on. Lost so much, that I need new uniforms. Even though, to me, it did not look like I lost. Also learned that the scale is not your friend. I was weighing myself throughout the day and would get very discouraged because my weight would fluctuate. So now I weigh in every Tuesday, first thing in the morning. If you need any advice, let me know. Love to help anyway I can.

Great job! I'm 3 weeks out, and down 39. (same as a few days ago....I hit my first stall). I hope that when I'm six weeks out I'll be down almost 60 pounds like you!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
