Advice Needed, please

Recommended Posts

I did ask about taking the ibruprofen liquid and he said ok. I have been taking it with a glass of Water and eating (drinking since I'm on liquids) afterwards. I think I'm going to stop taking it though. I do not need to borrow trouble.

Donali, now that you brought it up I did have trouble with passing food along a couple of times before all the burbing and pain started. I don't even remember what it was now. I did not have any throwing up episodes however. Thank you for giving me some things to think about as to why this started. I had not even given those types of items any thought. I am still so new a all this.

Neicy, I have not had a history of clenching my teeth before all this started last week. I have been paying attention and attempting to stop it as soon as I am aware I'm doing it. Thank you for all the information. I will investigate my options if this behavior continues.

Ya'll are always so helpful and have a wealth of experiences and information. Your input is invaluable. I can only hope that I can be of help or guidance to someone in the future.

It has been hard for me to ask for help. I am use to doing and handling everything for myself.

We all need help from time to time and this IS the nicest group of people in this forum. I'm like an addict, every chance I get, I log on and check on everybody. Besides, not many people know I'm banded, and I can't talk to them about it. Even if I did they could not relate. I am lucky that my daughter and I share the band experience. It has brought us closer together. She laughs at me 'cause I'm always checking in the forum. She said after a while I'll get used to being banded and just go with it. I guess I'm in a state of hyper excitement that I am finally able to lose weight after struggling so hard for all of my life. I am rambling on, must get to work now.

Niecy, I've only shared w/ my husband. I'm addicted to this group, too! It's better than the soaps I used to watch! I got absolutely nothing done yesterday because of the "excitement" here.

Some of our posts do resemble the soaps! I guess it's because it's real life, and everyone is willing to share their experience, fears, goals, achievements, failures, hopes and dreams. I think it's wonderful.

Posting an update.

I am still sick. I went to a local Dr. and had the fill removed but I have violet bouts of dry heaves from nausea even though I am taking an anti nausea medicine. On the xray he said there was a baloon of air caused by swallowing air I assume from swallowing my saliva when nausous?? I can not eat and it is hard to drink anything from the nausea. I am suffering. Thinking about making res. for a flight to MX.. I have been hoping it would just pass....

Carolyn -

I am extremely worried for you - I have never heard of your symptoms before, and do not understand how air can be trapped in your stomach if your fill has been removed.

I do think it's time to see your doc - this has been going on too long, and you should not be suffering. I'm sorry, I wish I had some better advice...

Please keep us posted, and wishing you a quick resolution.

Carolyn, please do let us know how you're doing, and definitely get this taken care of! Did the doctor say where there was a baloon of air trapped? How could it be "trapped"?

Good luck, sweet lady, and please keep checking in with us!

Going to MX @ 8:00 pm, doc will meet me at the hospital. If I make it. It is going to be great for someone sitting next to me with the dry heaves all the way down. I do not know everything I have felt so bad I did not pay a lot of attention. When they were looking at the xrays. I am not sure I can make it to tell the truth. My husband is going with me that is my only hope of making it. Can't hold liquids down anymore. Feel like crap! Be back in a few days.

Carolyn

ps thanks for your concerns

Latest and last post.

I am back. My body rejected my band. It was totally eroded after 4 months. It was not even detectable with the endoscope so they took me on in to surgery. The erosion was not even detectable with the laproscope and he could only see it after the band was unlatched. Lucky me I am one in that <1%. Doc said no band ever again for me. I nearly died if I had waited any longer it would have been bye bye for me.

My advice for what it is worth. Go back to Mexico with continued problems sooner rather that later. Better to spend the money and live to be able to pay it back.

Thank each and everyone who responded with info and prayers.

God bless each of you.

Carolyn

Carolyn,

I am so sorry to hear of this terrible outcome. But, I'm very glad you were able to get there and have it taken care of. This is just awful. :)

Thank you so much for letting us know how you are doing.

Carolyn, oh wow, what a shock that must have been! Thank goodness they caught it and took care of it. You poor thing. :)

Are you feeling better now? I understand about there not being a band in your future, but there are far worse things out there than that. How is your recuperation going--are you on liquids for three months or anything awful like that?

Oh, man, I'm so sorry for what you went through. Take good care and heal up quickly!

I am recuperating just like after initial placement surgery. 3 days liquids which is a total of 12 days because I was on liquids when I started getting sick. Starting soft for 3 days tomorrow, come on tomorrow!! Feeling like I am going to live. I am in mourning for my little band though. I know there are worse things in life but this was my last good hope for a normal, or as close as would ever have gotten, life. Sniff, sniff feel sorry for myself....moving on from self pity tomorrow when I begin soft foods.

Oh, honey, I'll bet you're in mourning. Totally understandable and you have every right. But this was NOT your last hope for a normal life, far from it. Science is moving ahead and tearing down the barriers between it and a real way to win against obesity. It's going to happen.

sleep tight, and things will look brighter and brighter as you feel better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
