Fleet Enema was what doc recommended. $2 and quick relief. Comes in a 2 pack just in case! Good luck!

never a laxitive but you can try a stool softener... like collace.. i use 50 mg not the one hundred and i only take one// they say 1-3 but i take one... Good luck... it isn't immediate relief but it will help in about a day...

I second the fleets, it sounds like you are at a point that you need immediate help, so you don't become impacted!

Fleets or a suppository..

Fleet enema for sure. Sounds scary but it's not. Once you're that backed up, nothing you take internally will make enough of a difference.

Think it's time to run to the nearest 24hr store for a Fleets to use now and Mirilax to keep it from happening again. Add as much Fiber as you can to your diet.

Good luck!

Sounds like me early out, I was soooo miserable - I tried dulcolax one night, miralax the next night, and the finally I was tired being in pain because the other things didn't work so I used Milk of Magnesia. I had to take two doses to get total relief but I took in the day and I was going but not enough for total relief, took it again at night and was completely relieved the next morning. I haven't had a problem since. I found it worked better at night too. :) hope you feel better!

You need to combine something for the "top end" (Movicol, lactulose, stool softeners etc) with something for the "bottom end" (rectum) of your clogged up intestine. You can get a hard stool low down that acts very effectively as a plug... And all the stuff you pour in the top end (stool softeners, laxatives etc) will make you feel ill until it can break through that hard stool - not fun!

Fibre doesn't always help when it gets this bad but Water always does. Go off extra fibre for a few days until you feel this is sorted out. But make sure you go back to it!

I had the same problem early on. MoM is effective. I chew Fiber tabs daily now. They are fruity tasting and work perfectly. Normal movements without cramping or straining.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
