1. Where do I get gas x strips? I could only find the chew tabs at Target.

2. For dining out post op my coordinator gave me a card to present at restaurants if a waiter gives a hard time about ordering a child's order or half portion. Has anyone ever encountered the need for this? I hope I never need to use it!

I don't know about the waiter thing. I hope that wouldn't be an issue! I do know that Walmart has the gas strips. You can buy them online if you can't find them in store.

I won't use the card' date=' personally. I will either order appetizers, Soup or from the sides menu, or I will take home leftovers. I want everything to be as normal as possible.[/quote']

I don't think I will use it. It just seems goofy and awkward.

Yup. I don't want to explain to a teen bopper server or anyone at my table who doesn't know. My only exception may be Texas de Brazil as I will never get $50 worth. I believe they will charge gastric patients a kid price with the card.

What did this card say?

Fred Meyer for gas strips, I've heard. And the card is a personal choice. I didn't get or want one with my band and I won't either when I'm revised to sleeve.

What did this card say?

The card has the hospital logo and says this person has had weight loss surgery please allow them to order off child's menu or a smaller portion.

Something to that effect. I just don't want to draw the extra attention!

The card says please honor this persons request for a child's portion. This person has a surgically reduced stomach.

I'm hoping people are nice enough without the card and accommodating. I think most places would be.

Also ask your doc if you can use chewable, I'm asking on Thursday. They are easier to find and the mint isn't bad at all and if you chew chew chew its dissolved before you swallow..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
