Exsess saliva and burping

Recommended Posts

All,

I have a question, I understand the "slimies" when you eat to much or too fast. But I am having a problem with just lots is saliva production and burping even when I haven't eaten in hours.

Part of me thinks it might be a acid issue? But I am not having reflux or anything, part o me thinks it might be my spastic esophagus possibly triggering some type of reponse... And it can't decide if I am eating or not.

It get very old, sitting at work and having to basically have a spit cup like some one who chews tobacco.

Any idea?

you can also get it when you have eaten something that your stomach doesn't agree with too.

Risky1, I was sleeved 30 days ago and for the past 2 or 3 days now, I've had excessive saliva. I've had to spit nonstop and I don't know what's up with it.

My dr has decided that the saliva and hiccups are a symptom of my stomach telling me I am full. The issue is I have it all day long. Even when I haven't eaten a thing. He is dong and endoscopy to look for a narrowing or possible stricture that would trigger that response. If they find one they will ballon it. If not or if th find my stomach is to narrow again do to stenosis he said h would have no choice but to convert to full By-pass. They have done everything they could to save the sleeve, but I am no in TPN nutrition via a PIC line because I literally cannot not eat or drink enough to not starve to death. Boy loosing 110 pounds in 9 weeks without being hungry at all is crazy, but I feel like crap all the time. The TPN has made a world of difference in my energy and attitude though.

OMG! I am going through the exact same scenario as you! I also am doing TPN nutrition through a PICC line for 2 weeks now. I also had a stricture and they ballooned it and it closed back up 2 days later so they put a temporary metal stent in. I haven't eaten anything of substance in almost 7 weeks without vomiting! Please keep me updated with your progress. It's nice to find someone going through something similar because I feel so alone. Everyone else on this site seems to have such great results from the sleeve and I'm not sure why it's been so hard for me. Best of luck to you! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
