Ok, so I'm a boredom eater (and stress eater, and emotional, and on and on.) I would like a list of AWESOME things to do to fill my mind and time so that I can stop thinking about food. So far I have : read a book, go outside, relax or exercise. This list pretty much sucks. Please feel free to share your tips for filling your time and not your face!!

Whenever I want to eat but not hungry (usually at night) I brush my teeth, clean, work out, take a hot relaxing bath, or just go to bed!

Because you like to read, join a book club or even two or three. It will force you to read more and provide social situations that aren't food oriented. I agree with Nicolanze about the cleaning idea. It is rewarding and diversionary.

I had quit smoking a few years ago. In order to cope I had "wall-paper therapy". In other words, the day I quit smoking I started peeling the wall paper in my kitchen. Every time I had a craving I got up and peeled wall paper. After 2 weeks, my kitchen was beautiful and I was officially nicotine free.

How about learning a new hobby? That can really pass time. I have friends who knit, and they say it's relaxing and a great diversion. Plus, you end up with things to wear or give away!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
