My big day is tomorrow!! I leave for the hospital at 4 am, just 7 hours from now. I can't believe it's finally here! I really thought the closer I got the more scared I would feel- but honestly right now I just wanna jump in the car and drive down there!! Unfortunately hubby doesn't want to sleep in the hospital parking lot until the surgery center doors open....What's with THAT!?!?! :speechles :speechles jk....

Thanks to the seminars, the research, the books (Laproscopic Adjustable Banding by Jesse Ahroni and Weight loss surgery for dummies) the support of those around me and of COURSE the awesome people here at

lapbandtalk.com!!!!

I feel nothing but excited and prepared.....

Thanks everyone!!!!

How did you all feel?

I was calm and ready until i was all checked in and they all started poking on me and stuff.. then i got a little nervous. I was amazed by how ready i felt. I guess you have to jump thru so many hoops asead of time that it is refreshing to have the time come.

Good luck!! Let us know how you are doing!

Oh dear, I thought of jumping off the op table and running. I thought about my 3 young kids. I thought of everything negative and everything positive.

I am almost 5 months out and 50 pounds down now and I am SO glad I didn't jump off the table and run away.

Good luck tomorrow. See you on the other side. It is pretty great over here.

hugs

Hi MyPov,

The day before I cried because I kept asking myself "what are you doing to yourself" but, then I kept thinking I've tried everything else and failed. This was a tool that was going to help me continue past the plateaus that caused me to fail before. It will limit my food until I get a handle on it myself etc. Then I was feeling great and concentrated on what I had to bring with me to the hospital and went to bed. I too had to get up at 3am to leave the house for 4am and be at the hospital at 5am for a 7am operation. I just kept telling myself, I'm worth it and went with it. It was the best thing I ever did for myself! Good luck in the AM. Let us know how you're doing.

I was absolutely calm and fine the day before and the morning of. The only time I got a little nervous was when they were putting me under (the mask on face), but I had less than 60 seconds to panic and not in the right state of mind at that point to back out. True ---but joking aside, I took many months to ponder my decision before setting my surgical date. So I knew exactly what I was getting myself into and had made peace with my decision and accepted the journey that I am taking now on the banded side of life.

Best wishes to you. Let us know how your proceudre goes.

I hardly slept and was nervous as heck. The nervousness increased when I started to get undressed into my socks and gown. I hate needles, the pain from surgery I could handle but the needles made me go crazy! But then it was over and I was awake and banded after a little nap and it was cool.

I was excited but apprehensive at the same time...I had never had an operation before so was a bit concerned how much the pain was going to be afterward...I survived with flying colours.

Best wishes on your surgery...keep us posted.

well, about 12 hours before i was about to change my mind .. my husband then took my "before" pictures. i took one look at those and my mind was made up.

at the surgery center, i was very nervous - they had a very difficult time with the IV needle. the nurse tried 4-5 times and had to call the anesthesiologist over. it even took him 2 or 3 times... :phanvan so that made me very nervous.

but then he gave me a little 'happy gas' and i was more calm. i did have a few tears fall down on the ride to the OR though. then i was out like a light.

i am now almost 52 pounds down. my surgery was 10 weeks ago today and i would do it again in a heartbeat!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
