When can/did you have any forms of Jerky? Beef, elk, turkey, tuna, deer....

I was advised that this is not the best thing to eat right now, but if I go on a hike I want to have some Jerky with me.

These are tough and stringy so your sleeve may reject it if too early. For me, I could start eating beef jerky at month 5. I could eat salmon Jerry before that because it was softer and flaked. I think it was during month 2 post op.

For a food that is traditionally dehydrated to preserve it, I don't think i could put anything in my new stomach knowing it is going to be difficult to break down due to the lack of "water" in it for at least 3 months post op. However, everyone is different and heals in different ways. Talk to your doc or nut about it.

I was cleared for a regular diet after 10 days post op. I just had to chew very well. I started beef Jerky around 1 month post op and I've never had an issue.
