I am 5 days post op and I am so exited about this. I have had very little pain and nausea, I feel great. I am so afraid I am going to forget that I´m sleeved and just by habit stuff my mouth with junk. I dreamed I had a bag of cheese doodlez and I woke up all scared. What will prevent me from putting junk in my mouth just as a pass a piece of food or snack? Have any of you forgot about the sleeve and made a mistake?

And you can't gain or hurt your sleeve with dream food, so enjoy!

Great to hear. So I will just plan to go on a feeding frenzy at night in my dreams? Anyone want to join?

This happened to me EVERY night during my pre-op phase, but I haven't had ANY dreams of food since surgery 10 days ago! (except for one about eating some gross mush last night) I kept waking up thinking I had 'cheated' and eaten something I shouldn't have!! So weird.... but i agree -delicious dreams are calorie free!!!

I dreamed about food and eating the wrong thing for a couple of nights, too. Funny how that works!

As for randomly going by and putting something in your mouth...well, one step would be to NOT walk by random junk. My kids made trail mix on the 2nd day I was home. I asked them to take it to their rooms because I knew it'd be hard to walk by and NOT pick up a few pieces of it.

But also, you HAVE to focus on what you're doing right now. Post-op, you're really having to make some changes to your eating...from drinking liquids, to thinking about how much Protein you're getting in, paying attention to the "full" signals, sipping instead of gulping, etc. So it's not like you're going to be on auto-pilot with what goes into your mouth...and that'll include NOT eating the wrong things.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
