I have been trying to advance in soft food, but everything from cottage cheese to mashed Beans feels like it is gurgling on my stomach. I actually hear bubbles. Then I start to feel sick! My stomach is so tight that I am only eating 4-5 bites of food a day because of it. I am totally turned off of eating but I know I have to train my stomach. Eating is a chore and feels terrible. I am afraid to eat! I need recipe help and some encouragement because I am really feeling low...... will I ever be normal?

How far out are you? Maybe you should go back a stage for a day or two and try again.

I still get that gurgling sound in my tummy as well, and I am almost 3 weeks out...I only got sick when I ate some watermelon a couple of days ago...the Beans could be causing gas, and cottage cheese is a dairy product...how about trying some peanut butter; can you have that? how about some moist chicken cut in little pieces?

Hi everyone I am 1 month out from surgery. I desperately need to know things are gonna get better because I am really starting to get depressed. I don't want to live the rest of my life fearing to eat. Please give me some suggestions. I am at the puree stage but everything I try makes my me feel sick or gives me cramps in my stomach after I eat it. Even liquids feels like a big ball is stuck in the middle of my stomach. I have to let my adult kids come over a literary pat my back and rub it like burping a baby to get gas bubbles out my body. They only good thing about this is I have loss 32 pounds since my surgery but it has come at a high price. If it were not for the support I receive here I would be so depressed. I can't talk about this with anyone else. The people I have talked to and casually mentioned the subject of Weight loss surgery think it is crazy to have part of your stomach surgically removed. ...I can't reverse what I did but I need to know things will change. Thank you for your support.

Sorry you are having such a hard time. I am almost 3 weeks out so i am close to you. I cannot eat Beans, they just don't go down good....heavy. I can only eat 4-5 bites of food too. Are you on an acid reducer? You should be. Also maybe you need to eat slower and take longer in between bites? Also I noticed that plain Water goes down hard and gives me gas, in the form of alot of burpes. Hope this helps and hope you feel better soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
