Motivation.

How do you all stay motivated to work out? I find that I am always trying to find excuses to not go work out. I don't have a regular scedule so I can never plan things in advance. I do love building muscle from my workouts but that doesn't seem like enough to get me off my butt and go. Any advice??

The extreme desire to maintain my loss. I have serious fear about regaining. But honestly- I'd be lost without it. I love the feelings I get when I run. I enjoy pushing myself physically. I also like the scenery. Lol! This morning the sun was rising as I was wrapping up my run. Geese flew by. It's just beautiful outside.

Other tips include find something u enjoy. Exercise does not need to be done at the gym. Put exercise on a to do list. Get a buddy or someone that holds u accountable. Work towards non-food related goals. Sometimes u just gotta do it even tho u don't have motivation. For example- brushing ur teeth. U just do it.

Good luck.

The way I look at it, I can do anything for 30 days....and by the end of the 30 days, it's become a habit that has a lot of feel good endorphins associated with it. It will get to the point that you look forward to exercising just to get that high.

Thanks for your words of wisdom. I know I just need to get in the habbit. I have always been pretty active. Some years more than others. I have never experienced this high everyone talks about though. I love every sport and have played most, never been a runner, I get pretty bored when I try. I started Karate a couple months ago and can't believe what a workout it is and how much fun it is, yet I still find myself skipping class. I went Monday and Wednesday but didn't go tonight. Maybe I'm just in a funk. I've got a lot going on in my life right now (all good things) maybe the stress is just getting to me. I'll keep trying, can't wait to get below 200lbs. I also just found out I'm going to be a maid of honor in August so hopefully that will motivate me a little.

Another way I use to try to stay motivated...

I have an iPod that is dedicated specifically to "workout music". I make playlists that I only listen to when I workout....and I have several playlists to switch between. I start each playlist out with a slower song to warm up to...then move on to the ones with faster beats...ending with another slow song to cool down with. (I mainly use a treadmill, but also have a playlist for my spin bike. The newer iPod Nano (16G, 7th generation) also has a pedometer on it, so if walking is your thing...you'll know how far you've walked!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
