Prettynpink1982 103 Posted May 24, 2013 I was reading on the post op forum That an abdominal binder is sometimes used and you can buy them at a medical supply store. Has anyone ever heard of using this from their doctor???? I am going to ask when I see her next week but I just wanted to get some opinions before I went... makemyownluck 785 Posted May 24, 2013 I got mine at the hospital. I just asked them for one and they brought it to me. They make lots of types - mine was pretty simple, just a long stretchy piece of fabric with velcro. I still use it occassionally, I'm 3 wks post op. It helps when I'm cleaning the house and moving a lot. When I move around for longer periods of time, I get a little achy in my belly and it really helps. Ask your doc if they would give you one in the hospital. I also got one in the hospital (a different hospital) when I had my GB taken out. It's not an uncommon thing for the hospital to provide. 1 rxtine reacted to this

Someonefab 25 Posted May 25, 2013 What is the binder? Is it something like the belt youj put around your waist when you exercise?
AmandaGeorgePelts 8 Posted May 25, 2013 Yeah.... What is this binder thing??
Prettynpink1982 103 Posted May 25, 2013 It's almost like a girdle but I guess it helps support your back after surgery... I thought it helped make your stomach flatter... Silly me
SpaceDust 585 Posted May 25, 2013 It's something you wrap around your abdomen. It's used to provide support post surgery so that you aren't pulling as much on your surgical sites as you move. I think of them something like Ace bandages for your tummy, though you only wrap them around you once. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 using VST

Prettynpink1982 103 Posted May 26, 2013 That's exactly what I thought...,I didn't ask for after my egd/ endo but I definitely will b asking for one after the sleeve:) 1 rxtine reacted to this
rxtine 20 Posted May 26, 2013 My sleeve is on the 10th at the hospital, I wi be a revision from band. I got my band at the bariatrics center, however the insurance I have now covers sleeve if preformed at a blue distinction and that's the hospital my bariatric surgeon does surgeries at the hospital every other monday so idk if they will have them there but my endo is at the bariatrics office. mi2sc 38 Posted May 26, 2013 I didn't get a binder but I purchased two Jockey tank tops that were soft cotton on the top and about an inch on the bottom (the part that would stick out under your over shirt), the section in between was like a binder, it held everything in nice and tight! They were great when I went back to work, sleeping, ect. I found mine at Khols.

xcillax 24 Posted May 27, 2013 I will be using the one I bought when I had a c-section...it's a belly bandit. I bought the bamboo material since that was the one for c sections...something that has to do with the material isn't harsh on the incision site.
