I finally feel good. Since I was a revision from a vbg to vsg, it took them 4 hours to do my surgery on Wednesday. I had a lot of scar tissue plus a conversion from a vbg to vsg is not always easy and usually they end up doing a by pass, so i feel very fortunate. They finally did the UGI this morning and no leaks and out went that nasty NG tube. Yay. Had my first meal and no issues there either. I will be staying here till Sunday and I'm ok with that. Wondering how the others are doing.

I was Wed too. I did a lot if walking and really didn't struggle to much with it. I mean I feel the pressure down below of the gas coming out but not painful.

I don't think you are a wimp. We all react differently. Till 12ish I was having serious depression because of the NG tube. Now it's out and I feel much better. One day at a time. Have you been walking?

I had my surgery on Wed as well. Just got out of the hospital today. I had some vomiting and some cramps. I'm not in a whole lot of pain. Thank God.

I had my surgery Wednesday as well. I came home Thursday evening, but I really think I should have stayed another night. Last night was really hard getting comfortable to sleep, even in my recliner. I'm having a lot of pain today, some is my stomach some is gas in my mid back. Walking definitely helps the gas pain. I'm kinda down because I'm really hungry and eating feels so wierd. I'm really focusing on my Water right now. I started on some Protein Shake and that went fine. I just want this first week to be OVER! I want to be healed and on with my life.

I know what you mean. I'm still in since my was a revision and thankful for it. I've been keeping everything down. I'm in a little comfort feeling all the gas around my body. At least it going out. I just want to past the first month.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
