Need some tips... Hit my first stall

Recommended Posts

I think I've hit my first stall. I'm not discouraged or upset but would like tips and/or links as to how to start losing again. Any advice is appreciated. I am drinking well and getting in about 45-55 grams of Protein in but I'm still on puréed foods and not sure what to do? Oh yeah, and about 350-500 calories a day without subtracting my walks.

Just keep doing what you are doing your body is playing catch up. Take your measurements as my might lose inches when the pounds level off. It will pick up again.

You might try upping the Protein some and see if that gets the scale moving. This usually works for me.

My sleeve surgery was back in Jan. of this year.... this won't be your only stall. My biggest stall was about a month ago and it lasted about a week and a half. It's not bad to have stalls... your body needs time to catch up to all the weight lose. Don't let a stall make you upset either (my first didn't bother me it was the ones after that did). Just keep doing what you are doing and you'll be fine :)

Your brain calls it a stall because of the concept of time. Your body doesn't care about time. It does it's job. It always works for it's own benefit no matter what the conscious brain thinks. The intelligence is built in.

The best we can do is follow the guidelines and get tips which is what you are doing.

Water, exercise, Fiber, Protein, enough calories are all helpful when you can get them.

Increase your intake, what i do is time my self to eat every two hours,so i set my timer, and i eat, even tho i;m never hungry..so it's been working for me also i stop walking on my treadmill for a while, and i started losing faster,i know crazy, lol.but i will start back soon just watching my body for now and also you could be losing inches that will not show on the scale, so don't get discourage it will start back soon..

I am right there with you! It can drive you mad

Sleeved 04/30, on the pureed stage and have been stalled for over three weeks now.

I have quit weighing myself cause it was just pissing me off and just focus on getting my Protein and Water in. Something has gotta give eventually.

My only advice is to stop calling it a stall...we aren't going to lose every day or every week. If that was the case we would all lose 365 lbs in a year. I personally don't believe in stalls. Just keep doing what you're suppose to do and the weight will come off. Don't subject yourself to the emotional rollercoaster of numbers on a scale. This is a lifetime marathon ...not a race

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
