Tips for getting Nexium down?

Recommended Posts

They gave me a powder mix to mix with 15 ml of Water and I can't get past the taste. These gas pains are a killer but they won't go away. Any tips? Also the pain meds before bed to help me sleep. Can't get them down either. 3 days post op here.

Try gas x strips....just like the listerine strips for your breath. That helped ne a lot. It gets better day by day. I'm 9 days post op and feeling wonderful.

Hang in there heatwhip, it will get better. Perhaps try the pepcid chewables? I did those and could chew them into nothing. Was taking those the day after surgery.

Oh, and be on the look for the "meltdown" lots of folks get it about 5-7 days out. Your emotions just catch up and it hits you like a ton of bricks. Not everyone gets it but lots do.

After that it really starts getting better. Each week that goes by gets better and better!

^ my meltdown was more like rage of fire. I had NO IDEA what was going on.

I take nexium 2x a day. I have to open the capsule in a medicine cup. put some liquid in my mouth and down it. 15ml is not a lot of Water that is like 1 Tbsp. Try doing it with the liquid first and then toss the powder into your mouth. You can always drink a little more afterwards. Try it a few times and see if this helps. If that doesn't work ask your Dr. if you can have some else that doesn't taste so bad.

If you have has pains from surgery the meds wont help with that. The gas pain from surgery is from the air they put in your belly to todo the surgery (laparoscopically). The told me walking, walking walking. Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
