icuwalsh 0 Posted December 17, 2006 Hi all. I am getting banded December 19th. Excited and nervous. Anyway, I have a couple of question about the post-op prior to going home. I have read some things about a swallowing test. What is that? Also, something about a bladder test. shutuplena 0 Posted December 17, 2006 In my case, I couldn't eat anything after the surgery (just ice chips) until the next morning. Then they take you to radiology where they have you take a few sips of barium (ugh) as they watch it go down on the monitors and make sure the band is in place and everything looks good. Then once you get the ok - I was allowed to eat. (Didn't really want much anyway). They want to make sure your kidneys are working, that's why they check and measure your urine. suzy 0 Posted December 17, 2006 I could also only have ice chips after surgery, which was fine bc I didn't want anything. The next day I went for an xray and had to drink something not very pleasant, but fortunately only 3 swallows. Then I was able to have broth, Jello.
