Me either . My doctors office told me to start using a straw, been a big help. But the contrast has also caused me problems.

I was sleeved 5/20/13 as well. The first 3 days were tough. Pain meds made me feel so sick, so i stopped taking them, and feel so much better. Definitely tough trying to get Protein and Water in for the day, but each day is getting easier. Hang in there!

I was sleeved on 5/20/13 too. I'm sore, but walking and moving around. liquids are hard, only 22oz today, but that beats the days before so it gets better day by day. I have to remember to get some rest and nap if I need to. So far so good! Incisions have the glue stuff on them and they are starting to itch! Blaaah lol

I was sleeved on the 20th too. I was on IV fluids for the first 24 hours then started sipping Water and Optifast... Doc gave me a 30ml measuring cup which I had to aim to drink3 of in 1 hour. Couldn't do it the first couple of days but I think things must have loosened up as it seems a little easier today. Still can't get it all in but it's better. And i used to love Water but everything tastes yuck at the moment :( have you guys found that?

I was surprised how well I came out of the anaesthesia this time (as compared to my lapband removal last year) but I'm feeling much more tired today than the last few days after surgery too

I was sleeved on the 21 so far my back is the most painful like my upper shoulders i think the pain killers is taking care of everything else I'm feeling pretty good other then that I'm not able to drink much so it's i guess a little getting used to the sleeve for the most part I just can't wait to hurry up And get out of the recovery phase.

I was sleeved on the 22nd. I was told that the back pain and shoulders pain was gas. Once I started passing, it got better. I'm gonna try this morning to drink something.

I was sleeved on 21st in the UK. I stayed in hospital 2 nights and came home yesterday. I have been in bed since I got back and sipping Water. I've managed to tolerate half a weetabix with milk and some Soup but I really don't fancy soup, might stick to the Cereal until I feel better. Drinking enough water is a constant battle and I hate all the meds bit I'm persevering. Getting up to walk around but still very tired.

Hi all! I was sleeved on MAy 20th as well! I'm so happy we are all finally here!

I stayed at the hospital 2 nights and was on continous fluids till they discharged me..I waled a lot. I had horrible gas pain..I help so much tightness in my cheat that would radiate to my arms..especially my left arm..they did the whole chest pain work up..bit everything was normal..just gas pain..boy did it hurt! Within my stay I got two doses of morephine and once I had my upper gi xray to confirm no leaks..I was put on liquid lortab...it burns so much drinkinh it..so I sip on it slowly! I'm home feeling a whole lot better..I only take the lortab at night to prevent a restless night..I was also prescribed pepcid which helps a lot! I've been able to continue passing gas especially after I sip on broth. And finally having bowel movements! Yestetday I drank about 25 oz of Water and 20oz of broth! Hopefully my water intake will get better. I meet with my nut today since monday is memorial day! Hope everyone is doing well! Hope to hear from you all!

Hi everyone :)

I had my surgery May 21st, and was sent home yesterday. Have been drinking Water and juices since yesterday, but can't seem to drink enough. Also using a straw which helps tremendously, and have been walking while drinking which helps a little.

Now I've been burping like crazy, but not passing any gas at all (sorry, tmi I know!!), does anyone have any tips on how I can 'push' that along?

And also, early this morning I choked on some Water and ended up vomiting some really acidic Fluid with reddish-brown flecks in it, after which I felt much better! Has anyone had that happen?

Ok good luck everyone! I can't explain how much I love this forum :)

I was sleeved on Monday. Trying to get in all the liquids. I don't want to have any issues being too full or vomiting so being very cautious. Was never so excited to have a bowel movement before yesterday but had to take MOM to get it. Purchasing the MOM was surreal at the drug store being surrounded by all the food/snacks. The bloating was the worst part the first night home but was able to feel better after getting a good night's sleep with the pain medication. Not really too much pain at all.

Trying to do light housework and walk around. I got ambitious and decided to take the dogs for a walk this morning just up the block and back (one dog is a rambunctious puppy so trying to spend his energy a little) and have never felt so winded. I was out of breath! Pre-op could walk miles...didn't always want to, but could.

Happy to find this place. Lurked while I was making my decision. Haven't told many people.

I was sleeved on the 21st and the worst part of this since then was the nausea waking up and lasting throughout the morning of day 2. I went home that evening after the nausea subsided. I was up and walking as much as i could tolerate and i think that helped get that crap out of my system. Since I have been home the only problem i am having is finding a comfortable sleeping position, even in a recliner.

Walking around the block helps when i start to feel gas. Will ususally resolve early in the walk, so then i just continue for the exercise.

Not having any problems keeping liquids in. Not on pain meds any more as of today, so hoping it stays this way.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
