How had it, who didnt, how long was it in and how painful was it.

I had it for a week. Looked gross and by the 4th or 5th day I could not wait till it was out. I just kept it tucked in a pair of baggy sweat pants. It didn't hurt out at all coming out more just a strange pressure when it was getting pulled. The suspense of having it removed is way worse than actually having it out if that makes any sense. Hope this helps

Oh and if your getting one here's a pretty good tip. Your going to want to shower like really bad heh and you got to keep it dry. I suggest using glad press and seal ( it's like Saran Wrap but way better. It actually clings to things) and wrap the drain around your stomach. Worked great for me.

About 24hours. Didn't even know I had one until I got up and walked, which was when I got back to my room.

I thought I was going to have one but didn't. Not sure why but I don't think everyone gets one.

I had one for a week...no big deal, but was happy to have it out...removal was a non-event, like previous poster said, it was a slightly odd sensation, but not painful.

I had a catheter for a day, surgery was on Monday, Tuesday catheter came out, painless. Had a drain tube until Wednesday morning. It was gross and tucked it in my pocket lol. Unfortunately for me, it did hurt coming out, felt pressure and also a weird feeling. Good news it takes like 5 seconds to take out and you're good.

In for 1 week, was very scared to have it removed..was out before I even knew it happened, truly no big deal. Did have lots of gross bloody stuff in the "grenade" that needed to be emptied, but was less every day. I am thankful all that yucky liquid was drained out of my body and not left to collect in my abdomen to go who know where...yechhh

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
