I know it's still early. It's like the surgery never happened. Aside from slight discomfort from time to time, from the healing. It's like it didn't happen. I see slight changes in my body. I'm going to start my gym regime on Monday. Or Tuesday because of Memorial Day. I weighed myself and seen little loss. I see my body changing in some was. I'm terrified bc I'm not seeing the loss in pounds. I'm resourcing with my inlaws about what they've been through. And how long it took for them to see results. I'm on phase II of my diet. Soft foods. I've tried chicken can't do it. I may have to boil it. I've chewed the heck out of the chicken. Cottage cheese and peaches in the morning. Muscle milk for Protein. Water. Can't really tolerate anything else. I've tried low cal crystal light. Too sweet. And irritates my stomach. So. I've read about how everyone if different. I'm terrified, bc I feel like I'm doing things correctly. According to my food diary I'm a little under 800 cals per day. I'm trying to get at least 800-1000. Which isn't easy right now. Any info you can provide would be great. Thanks in advance.

Victoria.

I would say you are doing fine and dont force anyhitng too early. I ate less than 800 calories for a looooong time and although I am almost 1 year out, when I eat solid foods like chicken or beef, I can eat very little becasue the solids fill you up so fast. I probably still only consume 1000 calories a day but I am not sure, I dont keep track. One thing I didnt want to do was to box myself in to where I was constantly calorie counting, it is no way to live. Instead, focus on the right foods and eat what you can w/o forcing it. There for a while after my surgery I was not noticing weight coming off but I was definitely noticing my clothes fitting differently. Don't know how to explain it becasue for the clothes to fit different you would think the weight would need to come off, right??

There were time when I felt like if I kept losing as fast as I was I was going to wither away to nothing, but then times where I felt like I was going to be that low percentage failure becasue I was stuck. To be honest, I tried to just stick with what I was doing and trusted it to work....sure enough, it has been a piece of cake once I stopped worrying about it. I was actually stuck for nearly 3 months until the last few weeks and then lost a few pounds, I changed NOTHING in my daily habits or diet.....

If you can only get in 600-700 calories, that is fine, just make sure you are getting your Protein in! And, do your best to stay hydrated...... I dont know how any other sleevers who are a year or more feel about it but I feel like I can't fail with it now unless I go out of my way to derail myself. I really think I would need to replace all of my meals with candy bars and Cookies in order for this to not work. You will be fine, trust it, eat and drink what you can and it will happen for you.

Toria, Eazy's right, don't push it. I went to pureed for stage 2, then soft for stage 3. Now I am on stage 4, and can eat what's comfortable...you'll find out what is easy for you. meats are hard to digest, as well as garden greens, so I go easy on them, and mostly chop them. I'm in the south, and pulled chicken with very light sauce is easy, as long as it's chopped fine. i came out of the hospital weighing a bit more than when I left. Hydration. That's the biggie. I couldn't stand Water for a long time, so watered down diet lemonade from Chick-fil-a was great, and now I buy a couple of gallons a week. Hang in there. i plan on staying at 600 to 800 calories a day until the weight is all off.

However, I've gone fast for a couple of weeks, then slow, then stopped for almost a week, scared me to death, thought the losing was over, but it picked back up just fine. Eazy's right, once you get it going, it would be tough to derail, or change your new habits, because nothing will ever taste as good as being thinner and healthier feels.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
