Crystal Light On The Go

Recommended Posts

I buy wyler's packets now, they're cheaper than Crystal Light at just a $1 a box. :tongue_smilie: But they have the individual packs. I also buy the Protein Water individual packs. They're more expensive, but they keep me full in between meals.

Now that the packets are readily available by many distributors, maybe now that the thread has been resurrected, we can get some good ideas of how people use them.

With it being super hot, my favorite right now is to use a Propel bottle---I like the lid, and the size. I use the Walmart brand of Cherry-Limeade mix----and put it in the freezer, til it just gets slushy.....perfect for drinking in the yard watching my granddaughter play in her pool!!!

I might have to try the Walmart brand too I didn't see them but then again I wasn't looking for nothing but Crystal-lite! i did order some on line though so it might be a while before I check into the walmart brand.

There are SO MANY choices now. I can get the Crystal Light or the Capri Sun or the Kool-aid or the South Beach plus every store seems to have their generic versions.

I keep some in my drawers at work and the pantry at home. Sometimes I really want Water but sometimes the idea of Water makes me gag or I'm really craving sweet. In those cases, I wipe out a packet. I also keep a few spares in my purse. I used one last night when Mini-Mac was whining about having to drink water at a restaurant (she had already drank her ordered drink). I poured some in and she sucked it down.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
