How much protein and calorie intake

Recommended Posts

How much Protein and calories should I be having or intake in a day at two and a half weeks and does that change or is it the same for the next year? Also is this realistic, are you able to do it and if so what is your diet like?

Carbs too! I know your brain needs carbs to keep functioning, but how much per day should be aimed for???

I just emailed my NUT this same question. I can pass on what she says... but I'd suggest emailing your NUT if you can. Mine actually prefers emails to visits, which works out nicely for me and my wallet!

I'm currently 3 wks post op (well, 3 wks post op tomorrow, actually), and I'm getting in about 900-1100 calories per day, 80-95g Protein per day and about 50-70 carbs per day.

I track everything on MVP - mostly to watch my Protein intake because I feel like I don't eat enough to get too many calories or carbs at this point.

My Dr suggests at least 60 grams of carbs, but I'm 10 months out and get in about 100 grams a day. I do better with low carb and try to do 30 grams of carbs or less a day. The further out you get the more you can eat and get more Protein in. I feel much better getting in 100 grams vs 60 grams, but that is just me.

As far as calories I eat about 1200 a day but I'm 10 months out. Some fays I do eat more just depends on my body. I don't starve myself but try to really eat Protein first.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
