I've been soda free for about two months now. I went from drinking several 42 oz cups a day to a few bottles to nothing. A friend told me to try taking organic Green Tea pills every time the cravings came. The bottle told me to only take two a day the pills seemed to last that long and WORKED! I still had to go through withdrawal, but at least as long as I took a pill twice a day, I did not have to deal with the cravings too. After a week or so of withdrawal I decided to try and not take the pills as well, and have not really had any cravings for it since.

I gave up ALL caffeine or carbonated liquid. I still have occasional chocolate, and that might have some caffeine in it, but not enough to effect me it seems. I'm working on sugar now. My surgery is June 10th, so I have a few weeks left to get there. :)

Good luck!

I discovered Crystal Light lemonade about 10 years ago and have never looked back. Before surgery I had about 1 20oz coke a week, but post-op, I haven't been tempted to drink any soda.

Thanks you guys and congrats. I love my drinks not for the caffeine but that refreshing fiz from the carbonation. I know I will learn to do without. I do like crystal light and that sorta thing so I'll adjust.

I did diet pop until the day before surgery. If I went through withdrawal it was while I was in the hospital for 3 days and pain meds must have shielded it. I haven't even wanted any since- its been 8 weeks and I don't miss it.

I chose my screen name because I knew giving up cokes would be the hardest part for me. I've been approved for surgery for June 3 and have been on the pre-op diet of 3 shakes a day w/ one meal since may 19. I have not had a coke since then and I have found that I actually like Mio Water better

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
