Sleeved May 15 and Regretting it

Recommended Posts

I know how you feel, I was sleeved 2/26/13 and at first because if the gas n pain, eating/sipping on Soups and protien shakes made me ill. But just hang in there girl, you will be able to eat things that "taste" good again. I can now eat almost everything but only 3-5 bites and I'm done. I have lost 50lbs and am loving the changes I see in myself! You will soon appreciate your new sleeve, just hang in there!

I had to respond to your post because I thought I was the only one looked at man vs food or food network to tackle my thoughts about food and it helps but I thought I was weird for doing it I'm happy I'm not alone Ive took on a new roll I like feeding ppl and watching them eat it brings me great satisfaction

I looked at Food Network the ENTIRE first couple of weeks after surgery... I thought I was so weird lol... It helped me deal with the loss. So glad I'm not the only weirdo lol :-)

Lol you will eat a sandwich my dear but come on that's like me sitting in cheesecake factory! Girl that's bread heaven and I love cheese bread and pepper, hang in there every time someone says you look great , amazing what have you been doing I know I did the right thing. Don't ever doubt your decision, maybe you looked at your self in a glance window or mirror and were horrified. There is a reason you did this trust your self. Stay away from anyone negative. I mean anyone. They will make your journey harder. Good luck and god speed.

Many folks early out seem to have regrets. It is too soon for you to see a big difference in how you look or feel. Why don't you go online and look at some cute clothes that you can wear later? Things that you wouldn't wear now. That may give you some encouragement!

I don't know what's wrong with me right now. I'm feeling sad. I know it is all about mental strength and will power. But sitting here at Panera' date=' studying, and occasionally glancing at people eating their delicious sandwiches makes me jealous. I jealously cuss them out in my head. I tell my parents when I get sad but they are absolutely no help. They simply say well you are the stupid one you did this to yourself! :( they are right... I paid to get my sleeve and now Im regretting it. I lost 15 lbs on my own just with working out and hi prot low carb diet...

Will I ever be able to eat half a sandwich with ease again ? That is my question..

I had surgery may 15. I started week 2 of my liquid diet. I ordered Broccoli Cheddar and asked them to sift out the solids, I had about 4 tablespoons and my tummy hurts. I thought i could get away with the creamy Soup since its low cal, but i guess not. I'm feeling like I regret getting sleeved. I'm in a slump. Any advice.[/quote']

I'm not sure if you have children, but I'm still in week one and constantly think "wtf did I do to myself?". Anyways think of it as post partim depression. It's natural. I asked my psychologist during my psych eval if this would happen and she said yes. She ha surgery almost a year ago. Surgeon and support group say first few months are most difficult.

Oh and you're not stupid. You made a life changing choice for the better. I will tell you both my padrino and padrina had this surgery in the 80s and they eat everything they enjoyed before hand, now. It took some building up, but they did it. Padrino is full Irish and padrina is full Italian, gourmet Italian, Mediterranean cook. Biggest room in the house is the kitchen. Feeds day care kids plus 28 grandchildren from 13 children herself. Plus friends of grandchildren, grown kids of her own etc . To ask her to stop cooking was a difficult one, everyone thought they were starving but her kitchen is up and running now with 4 extra fridges in the basement and 6 freezers.

I watched the cooking shows constantly during my two weeks at home after surgery. My husband thought I was nuts. He kept asking me why I was "torturing myself". I told him that I always watched cooking shows and that I was not hungry. I found the shows comforting but did not think anyone else would understand n

I watched them in the hospital post op and I still do. Love them. Best part? They give me new ideas for adaptation, but unlike before, I have no urge to snack during. Or before. Or after. Or ever. Ha!

No I don't have children. But I definitely say it is a mild depression. I had my surgery in Mexicali and there was no mental preparation at all. So now I'm finding my own ways of coping.

Sounds like you'd benefit from speaking to a therapist, especially if your family are unsupportive jerks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
