Danigurle22 12 Posted May 22, 2013 Is this possible? I had my Mirena inserted on April 2, I had my surgery on January 28. In the month and a half since I had the Mirena inserted, I have not lost an ounce. However, I haven't gained weight either. I thought it a little odd that I have been at a plateau for 6 weeks, but, maybe the Mirena is to blame? Has anyone had this experience?
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted May 22, 2013 I have a mirena and it has not effected my weight loss at all..... I don't believe the mirena will affect you, it's just the normal losing cycle we've all gone through..... You will have the 3 week stall and during that time, you will be losing inches.... CONGRATS! Sit back and enjoy your ride now.
anndemstng 7 Posted May 23, 2013 I had my vs on July 31 2012 lost 50 lbs by sep when I had mirena inserted never lost anymore weight had horrible mood swings and hurt all over, just had it removed May 21st and have already lost 8 lbs. I'm sure everyone is different but I completely feel that the mirena effected me adversely
AmandaRaeLeo 2,146 Posted May 23, 2013 I had Mirena and in addition to my many horrible side effects I gained all 100 lbs back plus some that I'd lost on WW. I don't blame it completely, as I was letting my food addiction control me, but I think it contributed.

Danigurle22 12 Posted May 23, 2013 I saw my OB yesterday and she said that of all her patients that has had weight loss surgery and the IUD, none of them had reported any weight gain. She doesn't think that the Mirena is affecting me adversely. And I'm not gaining weight, I'm just stalled. She told me to keep and eye on my progress and if it's an issue, she'll pull it. I have no other side effects from it otherwise so I would hate to have it removed, but if it's hindering my progress, it has to go. 1 danyelleb reacted to this

Estrogen is known to cause weight gain.

hepktty 30 Posted May 29, 2013 I have it too and the only thing that effects my weight loss is stress. I just went thru some major life changes...ie moving out of state, and was stalled for almost 2mo. But now things have leveled out and I am losing again. Just don't neglect Water and veggies. I always do when I am stressed.
