Sweets for me too. I plan to just stay away from

them or I can't stop. I'm doing pretty good avoiding them now preop but I do eat birthday cake figuring I probably won't be eating it for awhile postop. I think postop our cravings should be less intense (or so I'm hoping!)

Any carbs!! Sweets especially along with salty. I am 6 months out and I really have to watch. At the point I am at it is so easy to get back into old habits because you can eat anything. Take my advise and DO NOT eat any sweets until you are at goal and then be really careful when you introduce them back into your diet.

chocolate, carbs, chips, bread, Pasta.

I am 11 weeks out today and have not had them at all. Between pre-op and post op, since all the refined sugar and white flour got out of my system, I have not craved them. At all. :) I have not tried them since. If it's not bothering me, I don't see the point. Big part of it, it's a slippery slope for me. Don't want to fall off the edge.

I feel strong and healthy but not invincible.

I am 2.5 years post op. Some people say they no longer enjoy anything sweet, but everything tastes the same to me as it did before, and it still tastes good! I have to be careful not to keep certain foods in the house because I will eat them. I still have the occasional treat, but it is in moderation. My advice, if you know it is a trigger food, do not keep it around then it is not there to tempt you. The sleeve isn't magic, and you can quickly fall into old habits and eat "around" the restriction. Take the fist 6 months to year to really establish healthy new habits that you can live with for a lifetime.

I've tried chocolate, carbs, chips, bread, Pasta - only Pasta seems to make me hungrier as I eat more. Use to be that bread and chips did that too. Not anymore! **happy dance**

Keep Pimpin that Sleeve!

My trigger foods are candy. i don't buy it anymore but my head hunger can do quite a number on me. i too choose not to have foods with carbs in my house. My new addiction is Quest Protein Bars now and I realize that they have a lot of carbs in them. So when I'm finished with the Protein bars that I ordered, I won't be buying anymore......:( But on a good note, i love my body and I am so much more healthier now....I love my clothes and only buy the clothes that I absolutely love......No more being satisfied with what's on the clearance racks... :)

Well, I am not going to lie about it. I have seen a few birthdays since my surgery and it was difficult to look at cake and not have even a tiny nibble. My friends would joke that I could put it into a blender with milk and drink it. EW!

So I knew it was mind over matter. I told myself that I had cake over 100 times before and most of the time it isn't really THAT good. Some are but most aren't. I told myself that I could have some cake later when I knew it was going to be spectacular.

Sweets have been tempting me because. It is a slider food and it seems that I can't eat a lot of it. Do I want to? Not really, but I want that taste and then I want to put it away. So, if you have the will power to indulge only a very tiny bit then go for it, otherwise stay off of the mountain cause a landslide will happen.

Case in point. Hubby made popcorn... hot, delicious, salty, buttery, popcorn. I KNEW I shouldn't' have any because of the kernel hulls. So I went out and bought some "Pirates Booty" puffed rice & corn snack. It sort of tastes like popcorn and cheeto puffs. I allowed myself .5 of an oz and together we watched a movie. I could have eaten the entire bag of that stuff, BUT, I resisted. Since surgery it has been much easier to say no to many things I would have gladly given into.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
