Hello, Michigan!

Recommended Posts

I still say try Henry Fords. They will tell you straight out what is required of you. Shrink, Physical Therapist, Internal Medicine, Dietician, A Letter of Intent "very important", and

of course some visits to your Dr. to monitor your weight.

This whole thing depends on your ins.. Could be 6 months/

could be a year. but what ever you do! get a file started, and when ever you go to a Dr. "doesn't matter what for" get weighed, thean when you are done with your Dr., get a print out of what you were there for, and make sure the date, and weight is on it. That includes any specialist. In 6 moths or more you will be totally pre-pared for surgery. Henry Fords is a center of excellence and can meet all of the needs above.

In fact I am going in for a fill on 11-07-07, any specific question you want answered? If by any chance you have

H A P hmo it now covers the surgery and fills at this hospital.

Hope you have a happy adventure, I no I did.. Shirley...

Which doctor in Port Huron did your surgery? I am currently scheduled for May 23rd, but it depends on insurance approval. I have everything done now, just waiting on that. It's scheduled with Dr. Boeshani. How did you like their facility and any problems there?

I was banded 4/10/2007 in Port Huron. Dr. Bhesania was my surgeon and I have nothing but the highest praise for him and the staff and the facility. It was an awesome experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat. DH was banded 5/22/2007 also with Dr Bhesania and feels the same as I do.

My PCP was totally against surgery. Yet, she was on me constantly about my weight. Had me try every drug in the book, little did she know she was actually helping me! lol... :Dancing_biggrin: I switches Drs after the band, that witch can bite me now!

Thats funny. I was lucky in that my doctor actually ws the one to bring it up not me. I would have never thought about doing it if it wasn't for him.

On a side note, everyone here should be proud we have a fellow Michigander as the face for lapbandtalk forums. Grats Boo! You look great!:glare:

My Dr. was totally against it too. He was thinking By-Pass. I told him no it was the band. He didn't no anything about it and was still very hessistant, but finally said yes. Now he tells every one that needs it to look into the band.

I lost 15 lbs in 1 week!!!! I went for a fill yesterday and I thought the tech was gonna faint. She said it took me 1 year to loose 10lbs., how did you do it? I said get the band,,, it works. Shirley..

Hi Everyone,

This thread jumped out at me on the forum home page, and I just wanted to pop in and say Hi! Michiganders and Michibanders Rock!!!!

I don't live in Michigan anymore, but I was born at St. John hospital, and graduated from Northville High, and the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) -- so, I guess this makes me a dyed-in-the-wool Michigander....just not a Michibander :blushing:.

Can I be an honorary member?

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
