What do your Plus Ones do in the hospital? Tijuana

Recommended Posts

Going down Sunday 5/26 for surgery Monday with Dr. Garcia at florence. My son will be going with me, and I am wondering what there is for him to do while at the hospital? I know he is there to support me, but I also know he will be bored! I have read there is a mall within walking distance of the Marriott, but what did your accompanying guests do while you were in the hospital?

My buddy went home the first night of my surgery, he lives in San Diego. I am actually glad he did because the one nurse had me up ALL NIGHT checking vitals, which drove me nuts. It was bad enough I did not get enough sleep. It is indeed painfully boring for our support people.

I hope someone is able to give you some thoughts as to what to do

My niece waited with me in the clinic with her Ipad and iphone.. she slept at my feet in recovery .. next morning we went to the hotel together.. I suggest the hotel if you dont want them waiting with you at the clinic.. now that I have been there done that, I would go back alone but I was scared to death and she never left my side lol it was all so safe and so comforting. Out group got out and walked all over down town by the hotel

Also, the beach is like a block away from florence. Very beautiful! Lots of people's plus one's went there or to nearby restaurants. I didn't bring anyone but everyone else did and they hung out together outside the hospital.

My Cordinator played tour guide with my daughter while I was incarcerated.. Err I mean required to remain in hospital. Then we all took off and enjoyed everything we could. Loved my Cordinator .. Best ever!

I'm curious about this too! I'm going to be a "plus one" for a dear friend of mine who has surgery on the 28th and while I know that I'll be pestering her like crazy to remember to walk, etc. I know that there'll be some downtime when she demands I leave her alone. lol

I can't seem to make heads or tails of where the hospital or hotel is in relation to anything. Being a total noob, is the beach actually nearby? Also, are there others (and their plus ones) going to be down there next week? :D

..so silly - I'm more excited for her surgery and the start of her new life than I was for my own 2 months ago!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
