Something to think of is that even though some shakes may be 30-46gm of Protein per serving, sometimes these servings call for 12-16 oz prepared. This is quite a lot to drink in the beginning.

46 g is a lot of Protein to consume in a single serving. The body usually cannot process more an 30 g in a sitting where the remainder is converted to fat or passes through. Do you know anything special about the Chike Protein shake that would make it easier to process more than 30 g in a sitting? banana flavor sounds awesome. I love banana creme flavor.

Each 8oz serving of our Meal Replacement is fortified with 28 grams of medical-grade whey protein, complex carbohydrates, dietary Fiber, essential fatty acids, and 23 Vitamins and minerals. It can be used as a healthy alternative to Breakfast, a midday snack, or a smart way to indulge a late-night craving. This also makes it an ideal pre-operative weight loss shake or post-operative meal replacement for weight loss surgery patients. Add 2 scoops for 46 g of protein

It might be 8 oz or 10 oz of Water, whatever suits you. Adding gelled chia seeds really brings out the flavor and taste, even when using only 1 scoop.

No problem. 3 scoops is 60 g of Protein for the GNC shakes. It is definitely over kill to try and consume 60 g of Protein as here is how it breaks down :

1. 15-20 g protein, average amount for average adult to consume.

2. 20-25 g protein, average amount for WLS adult to consume.

3. 25-30 g protein, average amount for athletic adult to consume

Adults typically cannot process more then the upper values on these ranges above. Eating more will result in storage of protein or elimination, neither which are ideal.

A friend just sent me some Proasis Protein bullets in the mail, they are casein, whey, and collagenic protein isolate, so 2 goods and 1 useless. 50g protein each. Opinions?

Most collagen is considered useless, but not all. Please consider the following research on hydrolyzed collagen:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
