anniemay 150 Posted May 21, 2013 Woke up in the middle of the night with itching on my lower belly - below where the incisions are. This morning I looked in the mirror and I have three LARGE welts in the exact areas there was bruising after surgery. They are red and itch.....I started purees yesterday but stuck with food I was familiar with....nothing new. It's like an allergic reaction but it is strictly limited to my lower abdomen. Has anyone had anything like this? Don't know if I should be concerned or not. Haven't taken anything either - I assume a benadryl is ok?
Kohe 9 Posted May 21, 2013 Itching of the incision sites are normal and good. It means they are healing. If they aren't near the incision sites, I have no clue. I'd make an appt with your doctor.

SoulWarden 17 Posted May 21, 2013 It is caused from the tape they use at surgery.
Guest Posted May 21, 2013 Kohe is right on point. You could also have a mild allergy to the glue on the tape strips. I know when I had breast surgery those steri strips were so so itchy. Try a little Benedryl to take the edge off. :0)
anniemay 150 Posted May 22, 2013 Thanks everyone. I don't think it's the tape - that's been gone five days now. I saw the doc yesterday and everything was great. It's not actually around the incisions but rather below them. Ill try Benadryl tonight and call tomorrow if its not better.
