WeeWers 48 Posted May 21, 2013 I've had a DVT (right calf) and a Lung Clot. My doctor said it was "up to me whether or not I get a filter." I didn't like that. HE should be driving the car! Has anyone with a prior blood clot decided against the filter? If so, how come? Responses much appreciated, WeeWers
cejiogu 182 Posted May 21, 2013 As a nurse if the doctor is recommending a filter I would highly take it. He is saying it is up to you because he can not force you to get it. I would get a second opinion to see if another doctor feels the same. Also I would make it a heart specialist not just your primary care doctor. Your insurance should cover it. If not demand it ! Ginny Coleman 1 Posted May 21, 2013 I'm an RN. I have never experienced a clot, but have had patients with clots. Take the filter!
WeeWers 48 Posted May 21, 2013 Thank you Ginny & cejiogu, I'm definitely going to see my cardiologist about the filter, warmly, WeeWers
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted November 8, 2014 I don't even have clots and my surgeon recommended it. He said it was a good precaution. If you have a history of clots I would definitely take it. It's a fast and painless procedure.
