Post op diet. No restrictions

Recommended Posts

Am I able to eat whatever I want after I'm off restrictions? Friday reached 4 weeks for me and I guess I can eat regular food.

I can't eat much anyway.

What did you guys eat once off restriction???

I worked my way into different foods. Always try things a little at a time so you know how you're stomach reacts. Some things are going to be different from pre-op.

From all that I have read, it's still soft foods (soft and moist). But let's let the experts weigh in.

I took it nice and slow. I had not had any adverse reactions to food and didn't want to start puking then. I am almost 11 weeks and have been off dietary restrictions since 6 weeks. I still have not tried Pasta, bread or chip and crackers, mostly because I have not had the craving for it and it can be a slippery slope for me. I Also have not done steak or salad. I have been expanding on veggies and meats. I do eat a lot of fish because I love it! I make Soups and chili in large quantities and freeze it. Love to cook.

I guess I have really just tried to eat normally. I still do a Protein shake in the mornings but I have been doing that for several years.

Jeez, that probably was not much help! :o

I was allowed soft solids at 3 weeks, and then at 4 weeks was allowed all foods except breads/grains and salads. Like the others above have said, start slowly with moist soft things, like tuna, canned chicken then work your way up to other things, grilled chicken etc. My NUT recommended that i have a bite of sweet potato or something with the mean to help moisten it. eggs are a great one, but my stomach didn't like them for the first few weeks. It's really trial and error, so if there is something you want try a small bite of it, chew it very well and wait a bit. if that sits well have another. Good luck!
