I was just noticing on my calender that I go exactly two weeks from today for my surgery pre-auth! Woo! But I am curious, I'm wondering why they made me an appointment to do it now because I won't be done with my six months until August. I wonder why so soon? I wonder if that means I will have surgery faster after my six months are up? I hope that's what it means! Or is that just normal?

Well, it will be a good way to have an early check to make sure all the details are done and catch anything that's been missed, so in that sense it may help move things along.

Scheduling my surgery was more tied to my insurance approval than anything else, and my insurance approval was tied to finishing the 6-month medical diet - I still needed lab work, endoscopy and my pre op meeting with my surgeon at the time we set my surgery date.

Wow, really?! I've done almost all that stuff. I had to have blood work, echo, psych eval, sleep study, and I have my EGD next week. So truly the only thing I have left is two more support groups and three more diet education classes and I'm finished. I'm hoping that they'll give me a surgery date on June 4!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
