Thought I Would Schedule my Surg Todaay

Recommended Posts

But I didn't. He said I have to lose 20 pounds first and get a psych eval. My doctor wrote him a letter in lieu of a psych eval -- but he wants the entire she-bang!! (all the forms filled out).

So I'm trying to be mature about the disappointment. After-all, I'm still going to be able to have my surg in June.

Any June folks here??

warmly,

WeeWers

WeeWers, just try to lose the 20 pounds and get the psych evaluation too. I had to get a psych evlauation myself. This is all part of the process and the process continues even after your surgery. You have to jump thru lots of hoops. The surgeons are following the guide lines setup by Health Insurance Companies I also had to have 3 different bllod tests completed within 3 weeks of my surgery too. I did lots of running around to get everything done for my surgery. It is already May 20th so June will be here before you know it. Any weight you can lose before surgery will make the surgery go easier on you. Even if you do not get 20 pounds off but you did get 15 pounds down anything will help. I had mime done on March 11th so I am already 2 months post op. If I can help let me know.

Best,

Cheryl

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
