Different things work for different people. When I don't see the number move for a few days, It reminds me to stay on course, or get back on track. That method doesn't work for everyone, but for me... I need a scale.< /p>

I have one and in retrospect I was probably slightly obsessesd for the first few weeks after surgery.

After reading another post on here about a lady who never had a stall since she only weighs in once a month at her doctor I have changed my ways. I have decided to only check the scale every Tuesday morning, I think this will only be my second Tuesday but it is working for me. It is less discouraging but should I gain I will know with in a week and change something I am doing.

My NUT recommended having one, I was obsessed weighing every day, but she said during the losing phase to weigh in once a week and during maintenance phase once a month, cause you don't want to go too long in case you are putting on weight. It's always easier to up on then to lose.... Made sense to me!

I'm guilty!! I was sleeved 10 days ago......I am obsessed with weighing my self! Everytime i go to the restroom i weigh myself....it's so awesome and amazing to watch the scale going down down down. I'm sure it's just a phase

I never owned a scale before I had surgery. For the first few months I was obsessed with weighing myself but it was all very new - I obsessed about everything so the scale was just on the list!

I now weigh myself every few days. It works for me - like someone said previously - it keeps me focused when I am stalling and discouraged.. I would recommend getting a scale and if it becomes a problem just get rid of it.

I couldn't stay off it either (I am 12 days post-op). I had my husband put it high up in a closet where I cant reach it. he's going to get it down for me to weigh once a week. It probably would be good for me to not own one!

If you can weigh somewhere once a week other than home do not get one.

I'm struggling with that decision myself. I do not own a scale. I know myself well enough to know that I would constantly get on it, and constantly beat myself up for the number. I have enough stress in my life, I don't need to add to it. The way I look at it, when I go see my Dr, every time its like a happy surprise! :)

I may change my mind on that now that I am post-op. But I'm still worried about obsessing too much about the number, even if it is lower than it used to be.

I bought a scale which measures weight, hydration, muscle mass, and three other measures. It was not very expensive to buy. You can get one cheap from Amazon or 1saleaday.com. However, I broke my obsession to constantly weigh myself. It serves no purpose other to make yourself crazy, but it works for some to weigh daily. Remember, at a few days or weeks post-op there is still a certain amount of swelling and Water retention you will have. Good luck to you.

When he asks for dinner say no...its too early lol just kidding i had to have a scale and i haven't even veena sleeved yet but like one of the ladys said on this post i need it to keep me motivated to stay on.track the more it goes down the more i wanna do right to keep the weight off:)

Everyone is different.

I weigh myself every single day that I wake up in my own home. It is almost ritualistic, rise, a trip to the bathroom then straight on the scales wearing my birthday suit!

I have learnt a lot about my body over the past year from this little morning scale visit. I now know the impact hydration and dehydration can have on that scale number, I can better predict my menstrual cycle than ever before from noticing the dramatic fluctuations I experience like clockwork. I track stalls and have learnt when to shake things up in my diet or exercise routing all based on that number staring up at me each morning.

It works for me. It works really well. I have a level of detachment from it though which I think helps stop me obsessing. I don't get emotional when the scale moves up as I am very used to seeing these fluctuations over time and I know that month to month, without fail, the weight I am entering into MFP (where i track my weight loss) is continuously decreasing.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
