I have PCOS and was actually wondering this same question!! I even talked to my mom about it today! ITS HELL. Im pre OP and just this week EVEN ON BIRTH CONTROL I was almost a week late ( about gave me a heart attack) I just dont know when its gonna end uhg! I was curious too if it would even itself out or if i should stop taking my pills and get an IUD put in so I wont gain weight with the pills even more after surgery. Hope you find your answer! Im curious too!

I have endometriosis and had awful periods. Irregular and cramps that would leave me in the bed. I switched to an estrogen free pill, micronor, and haven't had a period in 135 days. I'm in heaven! It's 98% effective where most pills are 99%, but we're supposed to use a barrier method anyway for the first 18-24 months post so I went for it. Best decision I've made :)

I had horrible periods also and birth control didn't help any. I finally had endometrial ablation done and I couldn't be happier. Of course I plan on not having any more children. Pretty much they burn the lining of your uterus. It sounds painful but it's not. No more periods for me!!

I had an oblation also. Best thing I've ever done. I had super heavy periods with big clots and terrible cramps. Now my period is really light. I don't need more than a liner or thin pad. Whoo Hoo!

I have pcos and hadn't had a period in almost 2 years. I spotted the day after my surgery. 4/16 Nothing major. Three days ago, it started with a vengeance. It's like the Texas chainsaw massacre is going on in there. Tmi I know. Worst period I've had in my life and its not let up any yet. Surgeon said estrogen would slam me after I lost so much and restart them. I'm down 60 pounds and he was right. I didn't miss this at all bit glad my body is trying to get back to normal.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
