Did anyone else have a lot of pain in the area of the lower right incision?

Recommended Posts

First of all, I'm not a wimp and have had a lot of surgery over the years. I expected to pop back from this like I did from Lapband and hysterectomy. Of the 5 incisions, 4 do not hurt at all. But my lower right side is killing me! It was getting better but I had some vomiting last night, so now it's killing me again, like it did right after surgery. I'm 5 days post op and still taking pain meds, which is totally not like me. I normally don't even have the pain meds filled at the pharmacy.

That lower right incision is dented in deep, which is weird to me too. Anybody else experience this?

I go back to work on Tuesday.....only took a week off because I'm such a fast healer. Ugh!

I see the surgeon tomorrow for follow up.

Do you have one incision area that hurts a lot more than the others?

Mine is the same one, the lowest right one. The bruise is expanding and it's also indented but that's the one they took your stomach out of and I'm pretty sure they used bigger tools for that. You will be better soon! Mine still hurts, actually it's the only thing that hurts. But it gets easier to get up and down every day

The biggest one hurts the most it's the one are stomach was taken out of. Mine feels better today but was extremely sour first few days. I was sleeved Tuesday.

Mine was the same way, very dented in and always a painful pulling sensation on that one incision, luckily by day 5 as the swelling started going down it wasn't dented in and the pain lessened, now at 9 days post op barely feel it at all mainly only when bending down

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
