I have an embarassing question...

Recommended Posts

I'm not quite sure who to ask. Over the past 2-3 months I've noticed the skiing around my neck turning dark. Also the skin under my arm pits, and I little around my "groin" region. I googles it and it said diabetes, but I'm not diabetic, or even pre diabetic. Can it be just from being heavy? Has anyone ever had this? And will it go away if I lose the weight? It looks like dirt, but I'm quite attentive to my hygiene so I know it's not.

Look into the symptoms of PCOS. Darker skin on neck, armpits, and groin is common for that. It's the first thing that popped into my mind.

The first thing that popped into my head was pregnancy. My skin darkened up in those areas during pregnancy, but went away after their birth. Is that a possibility for you?!

Could it also be from the skin chafing or rubbing together?

Definitely not pregnant!! Lol. Ive had 2 kids (ages 3.5 and 1) and never had that symptom. Any other symptoms of pcos? And would chaffing cause color change? My neck doesn't chafe, there's a slight crease, but not enough for it to rub.

Hrm, I'm not sure. I know lots of thin people with darker skin there, though!

My mom is heavy too, and she has it pretty dark on the back of her neck. Her doc said its from diabetes. I just hope it goes away. My husband noticed it for the first time 2 weeks ago and thought it was dirt :(. My aunt just mentioned it yesterday. I'm getting really self conscious of it -_-

When's your next doctor visit? Might be worth mentioning--especially if there's a family history. It sounds like it might be hormonal (pregnancy/PCOS causing similar issues), if it's definitely not related to diabetes.

Any reason to think your hormones might be a little off balance? For example, do you take an oral contraceptive?

Here's a link about acanthosis nigricans (darkening skin in the areas you mentioned):

Look up the term "acanthosis nigricans" (I probably spelled that wrong).

Maybe use some skin bleaching? I would ask the doctor forsure. Or maybe google skin darkining.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
