What you wish you knew before the sleeve

Recommended Posts

I found I did research regarding intra op complications & post op complications however wasn't really prepared for the after effects..

Before surgery, take fish oil tablets/eat Protein for hair loss

Get a good moisterising cream u use daily to help your skin integrity

Know what medications u will need and how to take them.. Bc the Vitamins are over the counter, my dietition Told me what I needed yet never told me how to take them. I've been taking Iron tablets without Vitamin c/ which helps absorb it and takin it with Calcium tablets which channel eachother out.. So pointless.. So know why, when and how to take it..

The post op stuff didn't bother me.. It's stressful and exausting initially, but all forgotten In a few weeks.. My problem was not having the nutritional help afterwards. Knowing how many calories a day, what portion sizes were normal, what foods and when too eat..so really work closely with a dietition..

I think it's a good idea to have clothes ready in boxes with sizes, so when ur dropping the weight u can wear them.. I became too small for alot of mine which was a shame..

Have a good supportive network, people u can talk too.. I found eating out really difficult, however u find little places that do awesome Entrees or go to places that have cheaper meals etc so it's not a waste!

Excercise early in, bc you lose muscle fast so u want to restore it and not lose it bc it's very difficult to gain afterwards!

Hope this helps!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
