Let me just open by saying' date=' yes I effed up BIG TIME :( !! I have been on mostly liquids since surgery Tues May 14, even though my doctor approved me for soft/mushy foods. So at around 4am EST I had an intense food craving, and i new I wanted meat (I"m guessing my body was craving Protein, but I had already had around 60g of Protein via shakes/Pro-Stat). So asked my husband to cook up a hot dog on the stove, which he reluctantly did. We ground it up with a knife (not pureed, mistake #2) and I began to nibble on it. To my astonishment I ate the entire thing, rather quickly!! The first thing I've finished since before surgery, I don't even get through a cup of Water in one sitting. I know I was eating from my head, not stomach.

Ever since, I've felt terrible!! First it felt as if the hot dog was just sort of sitting there between my esophagus and stomach. I've had incessant painful gurgling ever since. I tried drinking some Water, without waiting the 30 mins, becuase it was my goal to wash it down and out of my system. Not much reliefe at all. I tried laying down, but at around 8:45am the discomfort and pain was unbearable. I wanted to vomit but my body didn't let me. I would get passing feelings of nausea, even down to the over-salivating, but still nothing. I contemplated sticking my finger in my throught (panic makes you think crazy things), but I didn't. I had a sort of pain in my chest, as if someone had been sitting on it. But now that pain has become more of a heartburn like feeling. I tried taking gas-x a few hours ago, then a Pepcide later on, and most recently a Calcium carbonate antacid, just before writing this. I only feel slightly relieved, very slightly. I also have slight stomach cramps (I'm sure this is from the combination of hot dog and all these funky drugs now in my tummy).

I feel awful and terribly nervous that i've destroyed my sleeve. I realize this may be a bit irrational, probably post-sleever's guilt, but still. I wil never EVER cheat again. Can someone just share if they've had a similar experience? Am I in real trouble? Will this discomfort pass on its own, or is there something I can take? Any advice (even verbal kicks in the butt) are all welcome, I just want to feel better and stay on the straight and narrow from here on out. Please help. Thanks so much for reading![/quote']

You need to pace yourself if you continue to eat solid food so soon out trust me you will regret it every time. I tried a bite of pizza three weeks out i thought my stomach was going to explode. It wasn't until two months out that i was able to tolerate solid foods and very little of that. I would eat chilli from wendys.

I'm not on solid food, I'm back on the soft and mushy stage. I did liquids for a week after the turkey dog incident, and have been on mushy ever since. I make my own chilli with ground turkey and It sits very well with me. I also love soups! Things are going well so far, except I've hit a stall in my weight loss

Awww my dear you do flatter me by asking, I would hardly call it a recipe lol. Its just some stuff I throw together and call chilli. I sautee the entire pack of ground turkey in a large sauce pan and drain it. Then I add that entire pack into the blender with one can of any kind of Beans (generally I use goya Kidney Beans or black beans), the juice in the can of beans helps to make the ground turkey nice and mushy but still tasty. I throw that back into the saute pan with chopped up portabello muchrooms, garlic, cilantro (I'm one of those ppl who loves cilantro on everything lol) and some italian seasoning. Everything but the italian seasoning is fresh. I've also added fresh spinach before, just for some Fiber and added texture. I sautee it all until its all kind of bubbling and the mushrooms are super soft. And I just eat that. I give it to my husband over rice. Oh, and the last time i finally added a serving spoon of Tomato sauce, for taste. I look forward to making a chili I don't have to blend first lol. My surgeon says next tuesday I can start adding solids to my diet one food item per every 3 days, so I'm excited for that! Hope this helps!

Ok :)

1pound ground turkey

1 green bell pepper chopped

1 yellow or red bell pepper chopped

1onion chopped

I small can Tomato paste

1 can diced tomatoes

2 cans black Beans (drained)

1 can chicken stock

a handful of chili powder to taste And garlic powder, salt, pepper..or if I'm feeling even more lazy I just use a packet of chili spices and disregard the directions on it! Brown the turkey in a big pot Dump the rest in and cook until peppers are tender

If you are doing this on puréed stage obviously

Purée the portion you are about to eat!

Oh my goodness!!! Thank you Jeffie and Laura ven!!! You are so sweet! They both sound wonderful! I am still on Clear Liquids. I told my husband this is the best diet plan ever cuz when I smell food, I don't have to feel deprived. I can tell myself, "Self, you'll be able to eat that someday- just smaller portions." :-)

I am late to the post but I am glad you are ok. I love your psychologists quote. I am going to add to my fb page. Also glad to see everyone be so kind and caring for fellow sleevers even those with tough love. I wish you luck on your journey and sending positive vibes your way.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
