I am scheduled for surgery on Tuesday' date=' May 21st and I will be returning to work the following Tuesday. My doctor said one week was enough time off since I have a desk job. I have read posts with people who have taken 6 weeks off, which I believe is extreme, but hey if they are still getting paid, more power to them![/quote']

Good luck with your surgery! I hope that the 11 days will be plenty.

I scheduled two weeks off tentatively, although I have been working from home (emails, etc.) most of that time...I was going to go back half days this week, but I just don't have the energy yet...tomorrow I start on soft foods, and I am hoping I will regain some of my energy...physically I could go back tomorrow with no problem--it's just the low energy level, plus mentally I am challenged right now being on a liquid diet and being hungry all the time--just don't want to add the stress of being at the office to the mix...and I am fortunate to have the time off available with pay

I took off for 4 weeks just because I could and drew 90% of my paycheck. So why not milk it? lol. I could have went back after a week but to be on the safe side you may take 2 so you have a routine down.

I had surgery on a Wednesday and was back to work on the following Monday. I was fine, but everybody is different.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
