That's crazy he does so many a day!! You were at Victory' date=' right? How are you feeling? Everything go ok?

He told us at the seminar he has lost 3 patients. 1 st was a man with extremely high bmi and his heart failed. 2nd was a young girl and her organs started failing and she wouldn't wake up but turned out there was an underlying undiagnosed medical condition and then the 3rd was pulmonary embolism 6 weeks post op.[/quote']

Holy cow! He was asked about deaths and I swear he said none. I would remember that. That's freaks me out! Do you know the total number of sleeves? I 4 weeks out and I stay scared everyday. Today it's this new sharp pain in the middle of my chest that randomly comes and goes. Awkward abdominal pain that comes and goes. Numbness in my left arm, restless arm. I eat and drink fine. I guess I just freak about everything! It's scary! I'm a mom and I want more children.

Have you called their office about the pain? I know I will be freaking out with every little thing. All of the online info is a blessing and curse. Lol we read so much so we can be prepared but then it makes us worry so much more!

What pain meds does Dr. Nick usually give in the hospital?

I had a drip of something and it didn't touch the pain so I asked for liquid codeine. That did the job!! I couldn't stay awake long enough to remember to push the button every 10 minutes so when I woke up I would be in pain.

I've had back surgery and take regular pain meds for chronic pain so I'm worried they won't give me something strong enough since I've built up a bit of tolerance.

You'll be ok. You have to stay on them and tell them you need more. I had to. With my c-section I begged them to take the pump off because I wanted to stay awake and with this I wanted to be put to sleep. Lol

He told me that he had personally fixed 12 leaks, although only 3 were his patients. He said each one was the result of eating too much and/or the wrong thing too soon.

He told me that the group of doctors he works with have had 8 deaths total. None were actually during the surgery, but were some time later. He actually choked up describing one that was a colleague that had some significant heart issues and really probably should not have had the surgery.

Oh! I think remember you! I felt so bad for you bc you looked miserable! You have dark brown hair? Actually most everyone looked so miserable. I did well in the hospital but don't worry I got mine when I went home. It was night and day. I felt great on all the meds they gave in the hospital then the vicodyn dose you get at home is like half :( and I was chowing down on the zofran like crazy. I'm a wimp too I found out lol

Yes, I have dark curly hair and glasses, although my hair was pulled back and had been slept on so it probably didn't look curly. I was soooooooooooooooooo miserable. I had thrown up when I got out of bed to go the the meeting, and I was just hoping I wouldn't throw up in front of everyone. When my nurse woke me up to go to it I reminded her that I was staying overnight and kind of begged to go the next day, but she made me go (probably because I hadn't been walking like I was supposed to)

But you don't know how many total surgeries he has done? I'm going back with my dad on Thursday, I'll ask.

I believe he said he has done 6,000 total, but I don't know if that is just sleeve surgeries or if that includes lap bands and bypass.

It must be sleeves because according to his website he has done over 10,000 WL surgeries

Awe I'm sorry you had a rough time of it. You stayed two night because you were from out if town right? Who was your nurse that day? I was wondering how many patients each nurse had. I had Callie and I guess bc I was low maintenance I did not see her much. The previous day I had Henry who was in a lot. He was so nice!

I used Dr. Nick. Awesome guy, VERY helpful staff who answered a lot of my stupid questions. I asked him to make mine extra tight, and he did lol. ;) I never went to any follow-up appointments, though (my choice, since I had zero issues).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
