Just had my five month anniversary a week ago and an down 115 from surgery and 140 total. I can't tell you in how many ways my life has changed. I could have filled a legal pad with uncomfortable and embarrassing moments in my life because of my weight. People I have known for 10 years don't recognize me when I see them, that feels awesome! I have had to buy new clothes, I fit differently behind the steering wheel of my car. It goes on and on. I know a lot of people say they wish they would have done it sooner. My opinion on that is you do it when you are ready and embrace it! I was finally mentally ready to climb this mountain and I know that is why I have been so successful. Good luck to you all and I hope this post might help one person,

It's threads like yours that give us pre-sleevers some hope!! How wonderful for you!! I too can't wait to pull my seat up closer without my belly getting all tangled up in the steering wheel! My teen son who is 5 inches taller than me can't understand why he has to pull the seat up when he gets behind the wheel to drive my van! LOL! I don't dare tell him that I need it far back to make my belly fit!

I appreciate threads like this. I am onto the "submit to insurance" stage and we are expecting a surgery date in late July. Every other day I wonder if this is right for me. Then I see posts like this. Knowing it will soon be "5 months out" and the pain is over and life will be a blessing again and not a curse. Thank you!!!!

Love your optimism, positiveness, and the success you have shared. I think that part of making this journey a great one is by having the right attitude. Having the right attitude includes informing yourself; understanding that there will be difficulties, stalls, and hurdles to jump; understanding that change has to begin from within yourself--with your perspective and relationship with food and any other negativities that may exist within yourself; and the knowledge that despite the fact that this journey isn't always easy, it makes living easier. I'm only basing my opinion on the research I've read, as well as the threads and opinions people like you have shared. I am not sleeved, but I can't wait to be. I can't wait to begin living a greater quality of life.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
