The scale says 20 pounds lost, but...

...the clothes don't seem to fit any different. Did anyone else experience this early after surgery? In my pre-surgery world, 20 lbs would be a new size...

I have been a size 18 at 175lbs and at 220 lbs. so for me I am not expecting a new pant size for a while! Congrats on the 20 down though. Are you just a few weeks out? My belly was swollen for like 3 weeks so even though I lost 20 in the first 2 weeks my clothes fit even more tight than they did before surgery.

It's normal. I was very dissappointed in the beginning because even though my clothes fit pre-surgery, they didn't fit for a few weeks after and I was loosing weight. It didn't make sense to me. In hindsight I was very swollen I think it was mostly due to all that gas.

Thanks...I know I just need to be patient, but I'm not!! I was sleeved May 8, so I'm only 10 days post-op (and thrilled with the loss, don't get me wrong!)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
