Marbear 41 Posted May 18, 2013 Never depend on motivation to get through exercise. For some, it's a job just like the 9 to 5. When i was utterly sick of the gym I found this quote and saved it: "No motivation however does not mean I won’t do the work. work needs to be done. I will never rely on motivation. Too risky" Full post on her blog: http://paulinefitnes...m/?s=motivation 10 startinganewme76, BuriedBombshell, jensjoy28 and 7 others reacted to this

Marbear 41 Posted May 18, 2013 Well...if it helps, I've been sitting around like a lump all day lol. But now I guess I better go do something, since we're on the topic and all of that. Maybe watch TV while you are on your fitness equipment. Or just grit your teeth and get it over with...i think that's what I'll be doing today. 2 carstanger and jacee reacted to this

If a 370 pound 50-year old geezer like me can drag his fat behind to the gym and do 25 minutes on the treadmill you can go outside and walk for 10 minutes. That's all you gotta do today, go outside and walk for 10 minutes. 9 nsquared, jacee, thedivinemsQ and 6 others reacted to this

I know how good I feel after I do. For some reason I am avoiding that. I dont even want to go for a walk. The exact reason why I never started exercising. I have the attention span of a four year old!! I'm serious, I KNEW I would get bored so I knew I had to make lifestyle changes I could live with, and that's what I did. I changed the way I eat....for one, I keep track. Weigh or measure everything I eat when we are eating at home, I weigh daily and I log my food on line. I did not want to lose weight because I became an exercise guru, only to get bored six months down the road.....and that's a stretch......end up stopping and then regain. You are not alone, I'm sure of it!!! Good luck! 1 jacee reacted to this
Lissa 2,631 Posted May 19, 2013 It's just like Nike says: "Just Do It". I like the idea of making an appointment with yourself. I'm doing a 30 day squat challenge and it's killing my legs, but I have determined that I just have to do it. 3 MrsPierre, jacee and Fiddleman reacted to this
aroundhky 1,174 Posted May 20, 2013 I know Marbear stated differently, but motivation works for me and has for quite a while. I wouldn't really decide against a method just because someone else says it or it's not what THEY use. Whatever it is that makes or causes you to do the right thing, do it. If approaching it like a job is what gets you to exercise, by all means......do that. If it's purely just the goals you have and the motivation to achieve those goals that leads you to decide to exercise......do it. If it's just the feeling you like when you workout......do that. Or use a combination of these and/or other things to get where you want to be and where you know you need to be. I'm guessing if you took a poll as to what people use as the deciding factor to exercise, you'd probably get several different answers.....and they would all be CORRECT answers for that individual. To me, there's no wrong way to approach exercise as long as it works for you and is not hurting others. Just my 2 cents....... 5 jacee, carstanger, NtvTxn and 2 others reacted to this

Well that day I did 20 minutes eliptical Then yesterday I walked for 30 minutes. Just take the first step and your mind follows I guess. Thanks for checking on me. Ballermom 803 Posted May 20, 2013 Ok, I agree because i did too get my arse of the couch and went to the gym! And I fell in love with aqua fitness. It helps my aching knee, back and legs. And guess what I feel better than I did in months. I too felt like I was in a small funk mostly from a back problem I suffered 1 or so months before my surgery. But now my back and emotions are way better. Yay. My favorite is the Whirlpool after my swim class. I do some cardio and weights just getting started. So if can go to the to gym to build my core and prevent a back surgery you can do 10mins today. Take one for the team. 2 DonRodolfo and jacee reacted to this

I can't tell you how many times that very thing has gotten me to the gym. Keep doing it and after enough times you'll actually want to exercise and it'll be a pleasurable thing you look forward to. Well done! 3 Ballermom, amytug and jacee reacted to this
