I'm 5 months post-op. I've only lost about 40 pounds. I'm not following the rules as well as I should because I can feel myself giving up emotionally. Today I ate an entire thin crust personal pizza. I have a full time job and finals in grad school, my stress level is insane, and i ate that pizza. I can't even believe I finished it. Didn't get sick, didn't feel uncomfortable. I feel like my stomach is back to normal.

I'm totally aware that I'm not going to get anywhere by not following the rules and I have a serious addition to food and seek comfort from it. I know it's my fault and if I fall off I just need to get back on if I want to be healthy.

But why was I able to eat that pizza without feeling sick? Is it possible that the stomach can stretch back to normal after 5 months.

I feel lost and hopeless and looking for support. Would appreciate some of your thoughts. Feel free to be hard on me. My mistakes are my mistakes.

Forgive yourself. I don't think your stomach is back to your pre-surgery size. Courage is that little voice inside you that says "I'll try again tomorrow" don't give up. You deserve this. :)

I'm not going to be hard in you, sorry. I know what it feels like because like you I am addicted to food....

Unfortunately when it comes to junk food like pizza I can get more in than regular Protein :(

It's just the way it works with the sleeve and slider foods. It's still about choices and those choices can get clouded sometimes.

Today is done. Tomorrow spend your day eating Proteins to keep yourself full and satisfied.

You have lost 40 pounds! Don't give up now!

I agree...I can eat way more crap food than the food I'm supposed to be eating. Your stomach is definitely not pre-surgery size. Try eating some chicken tomorrow, and I bet you'll be full off a small portion. Have a bad day and then get back on it tomorrow. We all have them!

I so totally get this, believe me I do as I have been there and feel sometimes I am still there. The good thing is tomorrow is a "Do Over"

I found this site tonight while I was looking for info about stretching out your sleeve. I just learned a few things tonight that make total sense. When eating certain foods "Sliders" I can eat more of but when I eat healthy Protein I get full faster. Tomorrow is a DO OVER and you will be ok. I am 18 months out and I am down 80 pounds with about that much more to go. I can do this, I will do this, one day at a time!

Ughhhhh... This is my own nightmare!! I wish you strength and success! I wish everyone on these boards would just wish each other *success* instead if judging. This isn't as (for lack of a better word) *easy* as we thought it would be. The *restriction* isn't as great as some hoped it would be.

I really do wish you (as well other's and myself) success!

Thank you guys for your comments. Seriously. There's really no one in my life that I can talk to about this stuff - or want to talk to about this stuff. I appreciate the support so much. I wish all of you strength and health :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
