PhreSpirit 0 Posted December 14, 2006 Hi everyone! My name is Whitney and I'm from the Nor Cal area in the process of getting my pre-op tests done. I'm almost done....YAY!:clap2: I had attempted to get the LAP Band done about 2 1/2 years ago, but my employer changed insurance companies....so my plans went out the window! Since moving to CA from Chicago about a year ago, I have gotten back on the bandwagon and I'm on my way to a surgery date! I've done alot of research through websites, message boards, and the required "orientations" but I'm sure there are going to be things I come across only you guys will be able to relate to, so I'm very excited to have found this group! I'm going to throw out some of my most recent concerns or questions that I've been battling with and see if anyone can offer guidance or possible solutions. First thing is the topic of Pregnancy....I know that women have been able to have normal healthy babies, but I'm just wondering how different the experience is post-op. I'm 23, newly married and looking to have kids someday..... Second is the "Fills" topic....people from the NorCal area are probably more apt to be able to have suggestions on this one. Does anyone know of any Dr.'s who do fills out of their offices?? I'm planning on having my surgery done at UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco, and I was hoping to find a local Dr. to do my fills. Third thing is....and I actually saw a similar post about this but I think my situation is a little different. My hubbie is a little apprehensive about the surgery. His 1st and most obvious concern is the health aspects....which I have tried to reassure him about.....and he has accompanied me on almost all of my Dr. appt.'s so he has a clear perspective on whats happening. But his 2nd concern is, and partially mine too, is that we met on a dating website for Plus Size people.....he's not big at all, very average build.....and he doesn't want me to loose tooo much weight, he loves my body the way it is now....but he knows how unhappy I am and the health issues I am facing in the years to come. I've tried to reassure him that I'm not planning on losing a massive amount of weight, just enough to be healthy. But after looking at all the Before & After pics.....I'm excited at the prospect of being the smallest I've ever been in my life. I know how much he loves me, but I'm just a little worried about the challenges this, one of the most important times in my life, are going to bring..... Ok, so I've now written a complete novel and if you're still reading this THANK YOU!!! I hope it wasn't too much at once......:nervous

flabuless 18 Posted December 15, 2006 Welcome to LBT whitney! Great to see you here! I cant talk for pregnancy post lapband as I had my last child about 5 weeks before having the surgery...and I cant speak for fill doctors in your area, as I am in New Zealand but i can say it sounds like your hubby loves you very much just the way you are...and it is wonderful to see he is so concerned about you...I agree with IMSUSIe in that once he sees what a fulfilled and happy wife you will become after getting rid of the 'burden' you have carried for a big chunk of your life he will be so pleased and so proud...Best wishes on your surgery. keep us posted wont you! :welldone2: becky

kjojojr 0 Posted December 17, 2006 I'm 5 weeks post op. I had my surgery in mexico. I'm from the modesto area. My first fill is this friday with Dr. McKeen in San jose. My bmi was 38.5, close but not the 40 bmi required for blue cross. I didn't want to gain 20 more pounds so i opted for mexico. I'm very happy i did it. It's a two year process of losing i'm told so it's a slow process of losing. My dad had the gastric bypass at UNSF. He lost so fast he ended up very sickly. I think slow and steady is the way to go. Good luck and it will be worth it.
