Six month diet requirements. ..

I agree... it's one of those things. I am very familiar with jumping through hoops. My husband and i adopted a beautiful little girl from China. That process is nothing but hoops. I also understand that it is expensive and they want to be sure you will be able to do it. Just saying it is crazy to think anyone who is obese and seeking surgery hasn't been involved in many attempts to lose weight.

It's based on BMI so watch your BMI' date=' if it drops down to dequalifying numbers than yes it's possible. I've seen that with my own eyes.[/quote']

Oh ok, my BMI is still hi with the weight I've lost..

You shouldn't have any problems. :-) your surgeons insurance coordinator should know the insurance companies inside and out. For example Cigna (my primary) who wanted 3 months supervised weight loss attempt had another sneaky provision that the pcp must write a letter of "medical clearance" for wls. So the gal told me ahead of time and we had it ready to submit. Since my BMI was in the borderline (I'm considered a light weight) I had to be very careful to not lose too much weight or i wouldn't qualify.

What gets me and is unfair, if you are up to a 50 or more bmi you don't have to do any diet crap at all--- maybe it should be the other way around? shouldn't the over-50-BMI people have to prove they are compliant and will actually lose and follow directions? the heart disease, the high blood pressure, diabetes-- are they hoping we will just die and go away if they make us wait 6 months? ok i guess this is a little rant-- after reading all the insurance screw-ups and delays i'm going to be in panic mode until the dang 6 months is up and they approve the surgery (surgery itself doesn't scare me at all, it's just the WAITING for no good reason)

that is all

That's how I feel too. I am right at 35...but even at 30 I still have ALL of the comorbids. Isnt that what matters? It should matter that I have had those for 15 years...and I am 37...not that I'm 10 lbs off the weight required. Ugh!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
