Can't sing the praises of Dansani Water flavoring enough...fresh, light and oh so delicious (not acidic or strange aftertaste like Mio or crystal light can be with lots if it)! My favorite flavors are pineapple coconut, pink lemonade and grape!

Thanks everyone, just hearing that others had some of the same problems makes me feel better. I will definitely try your suggestions, somethings got to work. I was getting kind of depressed and told my husband that maybe I shouldn't have done this, but he did remind me that it was major surgery and it has only been 3 days. Thanks to all for the support.

I had my surgery on 5/14/13 and feeling the same way. I had and a hiatal hernia repair too. When I tries to drink I have a bad discomfort under my left breast and it moves to the center of my chest. I was told to drink 50 oz of liquids daily. I'm only consuming 10 oz due to the pain and feeling of something being stuck in my esophagus. In the hospital I was nauseated and dry heving. K+ dropped. Praying for better days.

Laura' date=' thanks for this explanation; I saw a lot of people talking about loving Mio and Crystal Light, but I thought it was more about flavoring the water! I had no idea that it actually makes the Water go down easier. Good info![/quote']

this is from member maharet111

I always like her answer so I copy and paste it to these questions.

Okay a little science here as told to me by my surgeon. Water has a high surface tension, meaning that its barrier to allow it to be broken down is hard. Think of a steel paper clip that floats on the surface. Now your stomach is like the size of a coffee stirrer at this point due to swelling etc. because of the high surface tension it is hard sometimes for the water to be absorbed and gets kind of backed up if that makes sense. So when you dilute water or mix it with something if breaks that high tension and thus can be absorbed faster. Not everyone experiences it but it is one of those side effects that can happen.

I've been living off of diet Arizona iced tea with ginseng. It's delicious. Couldn't get Water down post op either (I was sleeved 4/1). I tried the crystal lights and mios but they were too sweet for me. I say just try a little bit of everything until you find something that agrees with your new tummy!

Hey Msthin, this is now day 4 for me and I'm starting to feel a little better. Sounds like you and I had about the same type of surgery. I found out that I can drink a little warm Water, don't get so sick with the warm. Also I found that I can tolerate the EAS carb control Protein Shakes, they seem to be thinner than most of the others. I only try to drink 3 ozs, split into a oz at a time. If I break it up I can finish a whole whole by mid day. My doc called to check on me and told me go slow and steady, just don't get dehydrated. I hope you start to feel better soon.[

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
